What's in the book?

I am blessed to be called mommy and honored to share life's journey with my husband. Raised by a strong mother and an awesome dad, I am thankful to have a family of my own. I have always enjoyed reading, and cherish storytime with my children.

Finally, I get to follow my dream and share my heart through my writing. Every day, I strive to share God's Word, serve more, and be a better wife and mother than I was the day before. Motherhood is like a fantastic rollercoaster ride filled with loads of smiles, laughs, and unexpected moments. I encourage all moms to make as many lasting memories as they can, and enjoy every second.

Fun facts about me: Chocolate is my favorite treat, and children's toes melt my heart. I love planting seeds in nature and life. I have worked as a Respiratory therapist for 13 years.

Chardonee Avelar

Chardonee’ Avelar is a Christian, wife, mother, full-time entrepreneur, and 3-time author. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU) and a Master of Science degree in Global Affairs concentrating in International Development and Humanitarian Assistance from New York University. Chardonee’ has served as an opinion columnist for SNEWS; the weekly campus newsletter for SCSU.

Additionally, she has produced a documentary, and television show and has created countless news clips for her alma mater. Chardonee has written three books, The Woman, I Am Devotional: A Woman’s Guide to Recognizing Identity and Fulfilling Purpose, Broken For The Anointing, and The Bird with The Broken Wing: Breaking Free from Bondage. Her fourth book will be released soon.

Carly Barnes

Carly is a full-time mom, entrepreneur, graphic designer, and hobby oil painter. She has designed for Whole Foods Market, Cricket Wireless, Crackle TV, Porshe Club of America, and McDonald's.

Carly holds a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design from Southern Connecticut State University and is currently taking courses to complete her Google UX Career Certificate program.

This will be the third children's book she's illustrated and she's thrilled to continue to illustrate even more POC-written books in the near future.

Lindsey Compton

Editor

Lindsey (Grace) Compton’s mission is simple: “To tell the world about Jesus in all that I am, say, and do.”

A former editor and designer for the Chicago Tribune, she is a published journalist, poet, spoken word artist, and author with Breaking in the Hands of a Loving God as her first official book. She has two additional self-published works, with many being released in the fall and winter of 2022/2023. Lindsey is a successful entrepreneur of several businesses, including Lindsey Clean, Royal Diadem Jewels, Key Press Publishing, Jar of Hearts, Inc., and her own enterprise, Grace Engraved.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Writing concentrated in journalism from Millikin University and is certified as a Business and Life Coach. Lindsey is an active member of Kingdom Keys Ministry, an international teleconference church that serves many communities throughout the US.
